Base Criteria
The base criteria applies to all applications. You must meet the base criteria and specific criteria before applying.

You must be employed and working within the Hair Industry to be eligible

You must be qualified as a Hairdresser or Barber or training to be through the NZ Apprenticeship programme

Note: A maximum of one successful application will be accepted every two years

Group, company or association applications will only be considered for industry events

Applications must be in a written format and all areas must be covered before application is considered
A professional statement on the use of the monies must be included

Appeals will not be considered

Promotional activities may include articles, website features, interviews, posts to promote the mission of HISO.
Employer Criteria For Funds

1) Must be fully qualified within the Hair Industry
2) Been in Business for less than 5 years
3) Must employ at least one trainee
4) Any funds must be used to enhance business growth
5) Be able to provide specific information as to how the money will be used e.g Course or Event Name, Date of Course or Event etc.

1) Max allowance of up to $5,000 per application
2) Itemise funding request were applicable

1) Funding must be used within the year of application
2) Maximum of one successful application will be accepted every two years
Stylist/Barber/Apprentice Criteria for Funds

1) Must be fully qualified in the hair industries, or an apprentice working towards a qualification
2) Must be employed at least 30 hours a week in the hair industries
3) Must be endorsed by your employer
4) Funds must be used to enhance professional expertise or knowledge within the hair industries
5) Be able to provide specific information as to how the money will be used e.g Course or Event Name, Date of Course or Event etc.

1) Maximum of $3,000 per application
2) Itemise funds requested where possible
3) Funds requested towards apprenticeship or course fees may be paid directly to provider

1) Funding must be used within the year of application
